Recently, Hongxing Hongyu New Materials Co., Ltd. successfully completed the trial production of J1800HS (30MnB5) cold-rolled products, with the first coil of 1800MPa-grade hot-formed steel rolling off the production line. This milestone marks Jiugang's official entry into the ranks of 1800MPa-grade high-end hot-formed steel manufacturers, laying a solid foundation for expanding into the high-end market and enhancing product competitiveness. Test results indicate that all performance metrics of the finished product surpass industry standards.
J1800HS (30MnB5) is a high-strength boron-alloyed steel characterized by excellent toughness and fatigue resistance, making it suitable for manufacturing lightweight components with high safety requirements. It is widely used in automotive parts production and tool manufacturing, including critical safety components such as A-pillars and B-pillars in vehicle bodies.
Due to its high-strength properties, the production process is prone to warping and hydrogen-induced delayed cracking. To address these challenges, the R&D team at Hongyu New Materials focused on systematic process optimization and technological innovation, successfully overcoming these key technical bottlenecks.
During the trial production phase at the pickling and rolling mill, the R&D team extensively validated the compatibility of the rolling process. Through numerous experiments, they identified optimal process parameters, ensuring stable mill operation and achieving compliance with standards for product shape, surface quality, and thickness precision. In the annealing and skin-pass rolling stages, the team precisely controlled the annealing temperature curve and holding time, leveraging high-precision rolling parameters to optimize the internal grain structure of the steel plate, thereby enhancing both mechanical uniformity and surface quality.
For quality control, the R&D team developed a specialized assessment protocol for hydrogen-induced delayed cracking sensitivity based on product characteristics and customer process requirements. Concurrently, they conducted quenching tests to ensure material reliability, providing customized technical support to guarantee product stability and safety under operational conditions, thus achieving an optimal balance between performance and cost-effectiveness.
Technical personnel stated that Hongyu New Materials will continue to deepen its expertise in high-strength steel, further optimizing the production process of J1800HS (30MnB5), strictly controlling product quality, and enhancing product performance. Through technological breakthroughs, the company aims to drive product upgrades and continuously improve market competitiveness.
